The Jumping Jack is a good overall exercise. It worked in elementary school, and it works now as a “first movement” or as one element within a more demanding workout.

How To Do It
1. Begin in a normal standing posture, with your arms to your sides and your feet together.
2. Jump your legs to slightly wider than shoulder width, while simultaneously arcing your hands to a position above your head.
3. Throughout the movement, your hands should travel on the sides of your body, not in front of your body.
4. Reverse the motion by jumping your feet back together and arcing your hands back to your sides.
Online Personal Trainer Tips
1. The Jumping Jack should be one continuous motion. In, out, in, out. Try to avoid pausing at either point in the movement.
2. Keep your eyes straight ahead.
3. No matter how much you love this exercise, there is no need to clap your hands at the top unless you truly feel moved to do so.
